Now, I know that I am plenty old enough to have a one-month-old son, but seriously...when did this happen? I still can't wrap my head around the fact that he is here to stay and I get to keep him! It is such a strange experience. We are starting to settle into somewhat of a routine, but I don't know how long it can last like this. My sweet, sweet David stays up to finish feeding Hyram after I do as much as I can around midnight and then puts him to bed. Sometimes it is quick, but sometimes, he likes to just stay up for the fun of it to throw up all over Dad. Poor David. Fortunately, Hyram has started sleeping until we wake up anyway around 5:00 or 6:00. For anyone that knows me...at all...you know that I do not do well in life without sleep. I literally turn into a zombie, or something worse. This little system we have going on for now is keeping me fairly manageable, and David hasn't had to call in any back up...yet. I am looking forward with sweet envy to those days (that people promise will come) when he starts sleeping in more than five hour stretches, but hey, I suppose I can't complain! I've never had to do the every-two-hours thing. Nice of him to come programmed to meet my deepest needs.
Hyram went to church for the first time on Sunday. It was super fun to dress him up for this! What a little stud!
I went to seminary with David yesterday, which was a nice change for me. It was great to actually be showered and out of the house before noon for once. I enjoyed meeting his students and getting to see him teach! Today, my friend, Johanna came over for a visit with her little guy, Dallin. Dallin and Hyram have the same birthday, just a year apart. It was so fun to catch up with her and to have something to look forward to this morning. Some days it is so hard to find any motivation to do anything since it seems like all I do is feed this little guy. I don't really have many reasons or opportunities to go anywhere since it is a huge ordeal to do so, and David has the car in the mornings. So, it is nice when little "appointments" are scheduled and I have one less temptation to just sit in front of the TV.
In other monumental news: Hyram has started bathing in the tub instead of on his changing table. So fun! He actually seems to like it, which is nice for us.
